G & C Hoskins took over the Lithgow Ironworks in New South Wales in 1908. Mr. Charles Hoskins acquired a large tract of land at Port Kembla. Sometime after this Hoskins Iron and Steel Ltd was formed and it was from this company that Australian Iron and Steel Ltd was founded in 1928. The company was registered in New South Wales. In 1935 Broken Hill Proprietary Company Ltd acquired the whole of the ordinary shares of the company. |
