Summary

Established in Liverpool, England, by Derek (later Baron) Vestey and his brother c1897 the business became a major importer of meat to the United Kingdom.

In 1914 the company signed an agreement with the Federal Government to build a meatworks at Bullocky Creek in Darwin. Due to war time shortages building did not commence until around 1917. By 1920 it was found that the business was not economical and it was subsequently closed down.
