Summary

In 1936 Reginald M. Ansett later Sir Reginald founded Ansett Airways Pty Ltd. Operations between Hamilton and Essendon began in February 1936 and expanded rapidly to serve Sydney, Adelaide and Broken Hill. In 1937 the business became a public company. In 1946 the business reverted to a proprietary company and it became a subsidiary of Ansett Transport Industries Ltd.
