Lakewood Firewood Company

Location: Western Australia

The West Australian Goldfields Firewood Supply began in 1897 with headquarters at Kurrawong. In 1939, the headquarters were moved to Lakewood where the Kalgoorlie and Boulder Firewood Company had begun in 1902; this had been bought out by the W.A. Goldfields Firewood Supply in 1923-4. During World War II the whole concern was sold and the name changed to Goldfields Firewood Supply. A few years later in 1947-8 it was taken over by combined mining interests and named the Lakewood Firewood Company. This was liquidated in 1964.
