Summary

Founded in 1937 as a co-operative building society to serve the Hurstville community in NewSouth Wales.

In 1951 the co-operative society became a permanent building society.

1992 saw St George obtain a banking licence. This was followed in 1997 by the acquisition of Advance Bank and Bank SA.

The bank was acquired by Westpac Banking Corporation in 2008.
