Established in 1927 as a separate entity the Commonwealth Savings Bank of Australia assumed the savings bank functions previously conducted by the Savings Bank Department of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
In 1993 the bank was integrated into the operations of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
