Summary
By the 1960s Coldstream Refrigeration Ltd was the parent company of a number of manufacturing businesses, the oldest of which was A.J. Eckersley & Sons Pty Ltd of Melbourne, but also included the refrigeration company which grew out of David Garvie's Adelaide manufacturing business (started in 1916). The first Australian refrigerator was made in Adelaide in 1926 although commercial models were not available until 1927, with the company made both commercial and domestic refrigerators in their Mary Street, Unley, factory.
